As parents, we can keep talking, but nothing works unless we walk the talk. Kids just follow whatever their parents do rather than what they talk. The only way to make our kids to be a generation of good, healthy, God-fearing people is doing that from our side.

Re: Do Hard Things - Relationship Edition

Great post! Isn't it conversation with God, the God who said: “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Heb 13:5). If God is always there - then why shouldn't I be able to have some form of conversation with him at all times? Having at least one aspect of my being, my thoughts, connected to, focused on, attached to . . . etc. God. Wouldn't then the attitude, the posture required to 'sett the Lord always before me' (Ps 16:8) be one of prayer? When considered this way - prayer becomes more than conversation - it becomes habit, and it become an attitude of our lives.

This was the experience and conviction of a man named Frank Laubach - which he rights about in "Letters by a Modern Mystic". The major themes those letters are listed below but are taken from a review of the book by Dallas Willard which you can find at: http://www.dwillard.org/articles/artview.asp?ar...

1. Submission to the will of God means cooperation with God in the moment-to-moment activities that make up our daily existence.

2. This cooperation is achieved through continuous inner conversation with God.

3. That conversation in turn is, from our side, a matter of keeping God constantly before the mind.

4. One learns to keep God constantly in mind by experimentation, by trying various experiential devices, until the habit of constant God-thought is established.

5. Then God permeates the self and transforms its world and its relations to others into God's field of constant action, in which all of the promises of Christ's gospel are realized in abundance of life.

It is possible for all people under all conditions to establish this habit if they make constant effort and experiment within their peculiar circumstances to discover how it can be done

Now I'd love to claim this is my habit and my attitude, but for now it's still a goal.

Re: Sunday Star for October 5th

That is a great article about weight loss.
